Respond to this question:
How would you respond if you were working with a client with whom you 100% disagreed? For instance, what if in your religion divorce was not permitted? Women were expected to follow the lead of their husbands, therefore as a wife you turned to your husband for making all important marital decisions. Then as a human service professional, you were working with a woman who asked for your help in leaving her husband. She complained of her husband being demanding and expecting her to do all the work around the house, yet he was never satisfied. Your client felt emotionally abused by her husband and wanted to leave. From your perspective, this woman needed to respect the wishes of her husband.
How do you personally rectify this situation? You want to advise your client well, but you truly believe that she is making the wrong choice.
