First:
My observations and takeaways from this week’s learning objectives as they relate to my nursing role are that nurses need to be aware of the methods of procuring inputs and the implications of specialized investments to provide efficient and cost-effective care to their patients. Nurses should be aware of the costs associated with search and negotiation, the consequences of underinvestment, the potential for opportunism, and the importance of optimal input procurement (Gambardella & Von Hippel, 2019). This knowledge can help nurses make the best decisions when procuring inputs, such as medical supplies and equipment, to provide their patients with the highest quality of care.
It is important to understand the concept of optimal input procurement in acquiring inputs to minimize costs while still providing the best care possible. The extent to which there is relationship-specific exchange is a major factor in determining the optimal method of input procurement (Choi et al., 2019). As a nurse, it is important to understand the role of input procurement to make the best decisions for our patients. The importance of learning about the various procurement methods, their associated transaction costs, and the implications of specialized investments cannot be overstated.
Specialized investments, such as site-specificity and physical assets, must also be considered when procuring inputs. Site specificity means that certain investments are only helpful in certain places and may not be transferable. At the same time, physical assets are tangible resources necessary for providing care, such as medical equipment and supplies (Choi et al., 2019). These investments can have implications for optimal input procurement, such as costly bargaining, underinvestment, and opportunism.

I have learned that there are various ways in which organization of a firm relate to the role of nursing. As nurses we play an important part as agents who catalyze good change on their respective departments. We work together with the team to design new procedures that contribute to the achievement of quality assurance goals and guarantee the continuation of activities (Larry, 2021). In a healthcare system health practitioners are at the forefront of patient protection because it is their responsibility to protect the people in their care from harm. They concurrently perform the role of administrative leaders inside the unit while also providing clinical care to patients. Managers in the nursing industry should involve all the stakeholders while they communicate with higher-ups in the organization.
The circumstances surrounding organization of the firm determine the roles that are taken on throughout such conversations. Nurses finds themselves in the odd situation of having to acknowledge the objectives of both of these potentially competing groups (Larry, 2021). The role of the nurse is to act as a communicator and translator between the two groups in order to get the department closer to the overarching strategic goal of the hospital. It is feasible for health practitioners to make use of their authority to increase efforts by incorporating other members of the unit in addition to the administration of the hospital (Malik & Kandade, 2022). In order to further establish mentorship and coaching among the nursing staff, the team could ask for the nurses’ assistance in putting the ideas of Just Culture into reality on their unit by submitting a request for assistance.
